Still Clueless: What Is the Tea Party?

By Lloyd Marcus

Surprisingly, many on our side — Republicans and conservatives — are still clueless about the Tea Party or have a negative view of it.  They have fallen prey to the mainstream media’s rhetoric that we are a bunch of anti-government extremists with a few redneck racists thrown in for good measure.

But folks, this is not an accurate description of the Tea Party.  Not by a long shot.

Ten years ago, at a social event, a politician told me he ran for office as a Republican and lost.  Without skipping a beat, he said he was running again as a Democrat because they promised him better financial support.  I thought, how is this possible?  How can someone reverse their values to further their political career?  Man, was I naive.

Though referring to Republicans, my buddy Joe eloquently nailed the problem in politics today: “As long as this is a party of men who seek power, rather than fight for principles seared into their souls, then the Republican Party stands for nothing other than being the opposing party to the Democrats.”

“Principles seared into their souls.”  Such are the kind of candidates we in the Tea Party are seeking and rallying around: character-driven candidates who say what they mean and mean what they say.  It is truly a sad commentary on the decline of our culture when such expectations are deemed fanatical.  Good Lord, how far we have fallen.

Remember the elementary school tale of George Washington, where he was confronted by his father for cutting down the cherry tree?  “I cannot tell a lie, father, …I did cut it with my little hatchet.”  I know, I sound like a sappy old fart, expecting my elected representatives to be trustworthy.

Resentment against the corrupt modus operandi of both political parties has been festering in the hearts of the American people for years.  We have silently tolerated their governing against our will and best interest — spending to win votes and seeking power via ever-increasing intrusive government controls over our lives.  Obama in his unprecedented arrogance and lawlessness was the straw that broke the camel’s back — thus birthing the Tea Party.

Due to my traveling on six Tea Party Express national bus tours, speaking and singing at over three hundred Tea Party rallies and related events, hearing people speak poorly about the Tea Party sparks the same emotional response in me as talking badly about my momma!

My anger is a righteous anger because hearing the mainstream media and other Obama minions unfairly trashing millions of good people solely to provide cover for an out-of-control, lawless president should make any decent fair-minded person angry.

For the Obama camp and mainstream media to have the unmitigated gall to say the Occupy movement is equal to the Tea Party makes for off-the-chain arrogance and shameless lying.  In three years of Tea Party rallies, the only incident of violence was when Obama’s SEIU thugs beat up a black conservative for selling “Don’t Tread on Me” flags.  OWS has grown increasingly violent.

No one has been raped at a Tea Party. Rapes are occurring at OWS.  No property, government or private, has been vandalized or destroyed by Tea Party patriots.  OWS has been trashing businesses.  No feces has been thrown or used to make a point at a Tea Party, but OWS dumped a bucket of feces in a public building.  No arrests have been made at a Tea Party, but we have over 7,000 at OWS.

And yet, Democrat Nancy Pelosi said God bless OWS while calling the Tea Party Nazi.

Initially the Tea Party was millions of frustrated, concerned Americans coming together at rallies to confirm that something has gone terribly wrong in our country.  Obama was simply the tip of the iceberg, the poster child for the left’s Progressive/Socialistic movement to overthrow America as we know it.

Over the past three years, the Tea Party has grown, morphing into a tremendously powerful, sophisticated, and stealthier activist movement.  The mainstream media is reporting that the Tea Party is dead.  Most assuredly, we are not.

To all those Republicans and Conservatives who say it is time to dump the name “Tea Party” because it is “too divisive,” I say shame on you.  When will you understand that the mainstream media will trash us no matter what we call ourselves?  Also, if it were not for the Tea Party, Republicans would not be enjoying a majority in the House.  What happened to “Dance with the one who brought you”?

This is no time to change dance partners by backing away from the Tea Party.  We are more focused, educated, united, and powerful than ever.

Health Care and Experience

There are actually two messages here.  The first is very
interesting, but the second is absolutely astounding – and explains a lot.

A recent “Investor’s Business Daily” article provided very
interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International
Health Organization.

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years
after diagnosis:

U.S.                     65%
England               46%
Canada               42%

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received
treatment within six months:

U.S.                      93%
England               15%
Canada                43%

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it
within six months:

U.S.                      90%
England               15%
Canada                43%

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within
one month:

U.S.                      77%
England                40%
Canada                43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million
people:

U.S.                      71
England              14
Canada               18

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are
in “excellent health”:

U.S.                     12%
England                2%
Canada                6%

And now for the last statistic:
National Health Insurance?

U.S .                     NO
England            YES
Canada             YES

Check this last set of statistics!!

The percentage of each past president’s cabinet who had worked
in the private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet.
You know what the private business sector is a real-life business, not a
government job.  Here are the percentages.

T. Roosevelt……………….. 38%
Taft……………………………. 40%
Wilson ……………………… 52%
Harding……………………… 49%
Coolidge……………………. 48%
Hoover………………………. 42%
F. Roosevelt………………. 50%
Truman……………………… 50%
Eisenhower……………. …. 57%
Kennedy……………………. 30%
Johnson…………………….. 47%
Nixon………………………… 53%
Ford………………………….. 42%
Carter……………………….. 32%
Reagan……………………… 56%
GH Bush……………………. 51%
Clinton …………………….. 39%
GW Bush…………………… 55%
Obama……….. ………. 8%

This helps to explain the incompetence of this administration:
only 8% of them have ever worked in private business!

That’s right!  Only eight percent—the least, by far, of the
last 19 presidents!  And these people are trying to tell our big
corporations how to run their business?

How can the president of a major nation and society, the one
with the most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk
about business when he’s never worked for one?  Or about jobs when he has
never really had one?  And when it’s the same for 92% of his senior staff
and closest advisers?  They’ve spent most of their time in academia,
government and/or non-profit jobs or as “community organizers.”  They
should have been in an employment line.

Norm Needs Your Help NOW

Norm Needs Your Help NOW

Norman Sanderson

NC Senate District 2

I NEED YOUR HELP NOW.

Desperate people resort to desperate measures, and there is no better example than my opponent’s recent attacks on not just me but the entire North Carolina Republican Party.

By now you may have received a few of these outrageous mailers from my opponent, Randy Ramsey, saying I voted to implement Obamacare. Political distortion has reached a new low as he has misrepresented a bill designed to LIMIT the power of Obamacare, a bill that was supported by every Republican in the State House. Here are the facts:

The legislation referenced in Ramsey’s flyer is House Bill 115 which was a bill that was a safeguard against the Federal Government having total control over Obamacare funding it if became law. There is the full title of that bill: An Act to Preserve State-Based Authority to Regulate the North Carolina Health Insurance Market and Prevent Federal Encroachment on State Authority by Establishing the North Carolina Benefit Exhchange. How can anyone interpret the words Preserve State-Based Authority and Prevent Federal Enchroachment and believe it supports Obamacare? A failure to act would have meant Washington, DC, not North Carolina, would have made all decisions regarding Obamacare. If the Supreme Court rules Obamacare unconstitutional, the bill is null and void.

House Bill 115 was supported by EVERY REPUBLICAN in the State House and even 18 Conservative Democrats. The only opposition came from the most liberal Democrats. Randy Ramsey has taken sides against the Republican Party and said he would have voted with the liberals. Anybody surprised?

The truth is on our side but we have one glaring obstacle to overcome: MONEY. Randy Ramsey is on pace to spend $250,000 in this primary. He has purchased over $100,000 worth of radio and TV this week alone. This type of money spreads his distorted message out to the masses and my campaign needs the money to answer.

As I send out this message, we are rushing to produce radio and television ads to respond to these outrageous claims. I ask you to respond immediately with your financial support so I can get my message out. I need you to respond NOW, as the inventory is limited due to other candidates buying ads. Time is of the essence. Please help me.

Randy Ramsey’s Latest Lie

Today you may have seen the latest mailer from Randy Ramsey or heard his ad on the Talk Station (FM 107.1). This latest ad not only misrepresents Representative Sanderson’s position on Obamacare, but it misrepresents the view of every single Republican in the NC House because all of them plus many Democrats voted for HB115 (Read the Bill -  http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/Sessions/2011/Bills/House/PDF/H115v4.pdf).

If you read the bill (unlike Mr. Ramsey who apparently has not read the bill) you will see that the NC Healthcare Exchange (HB 115) is nothing more than a procedural vote to save NC taxpayers millions of dollars in the event that Obamacare is not repealed or found unconstitutional. Representative Norm Sanderson and every member of the Republican House, and a large number of Democrats voted for the bill.  This Bill had at least four procedural votes on it’s wording before it went to the NC Senate where it now sits in committee.

You should know that Representative Pat McElraft was a Co-sponsor of HB 115 along with other Republicans. Representative McElraft, was on Viewpoints this afternoon, April 18 (FM 107.1) refuting Ramsey‘s claims.

More importantly, and not mentioned by Ramsey, was HB2. HB2 was cosponsored by Norm Sanderson and Pat McElraft in an effort to prevent Obamacare implementation In NC.  HB2 , passed both the House and Senate, but was vetoed by Governor Beverly Purdue. Norm Sanderson and Pat McElraft and all the other Republicans tried to over-ride Purdue’s veto, but they did not have the needed Democrat support in the end. At the time of the over-ride attempt, Randy Ramsey was still funneling big money to Bev Purdue indicating his tacit approval of Perdue‘s veto of HB2 and other liberal agendas.
